Georgia City Named A Great January Vacation Spot
The first month of the new year often feels like a time to stop moving so fast, refocus, and start again. However, Fifty Grande recently explained that January can be an ideal time to travel, and named a Georgia destination as one of the best places to go to during the month.
“While much of the country can run a little chilly, the relative lack of crowds make everywhere from beaches to northern ski slopes a little more manageable than they are in February or March,” they said. Furthermore, you can find more reasonable airline and hotel prices. Possibly because the month is sandwiched between the holiday and February break.
Fifty Grande, often details ideal travel spots across the entire country. Here, they highlighted five great January trips. These destinations can accommodate anything from a quick weekend getaway to a full week of vacation.
The Georgia Area That Was Named A Great January Travel Option Is Jekyll Island
Recognized for being a place filled with nature to explore, Jekyll Island was ranked as the second-best overall January destination by Fifty Grande. “The island doubles as a state park, where you can enjoy the mid-60s temperatures as you explore coastal wetlands, spotting rare birds like crested flycatchers and black-and-white warblers,” they explain.
Both Savannah and Jacksonville airports are a close drive for travelers who need to fly into the area. In fact, many do just to play a round at the Jekyll Island Golf Club. This landmark dates back to 1898. Like the rest of the surrounding area, this course is well-known for all its natural elements.
Lastly, Jekyll Island has 10 miles of shoreline. Along this, visitors can find areas for just about anything. This includes everything from secluded relaxing spots, to a beach deck where you can birdwatch.
Clearwater Beach is ranked right in the middle of great January trips at number three. New Orleans ranked as the best spot. Reno, NV, Lake Placid, NY, and Clearwater Beach, FL rounded out the list.
