New Study Finds Florida’s Interior Trends To Be “Shabby Chic”
Interior and exterior home renovations have been highly popular in the past three years. Architectural Digest reported that over half of homeowners have decorated the inside of their homes since 2021. Architectural Digest has analyzed the most popular design trends, and in Florida the shabby chic style was the most common.
“Shabby chic is considered to be a style of interior decorating that blends vintage and cottage elements in soft, romantic colors and textures to create an elegant, yet worn and welcoming look,” The Spruce explains.
In order to determine which interior design trend is most popular in each state, Architectural Digest analyzed Google trends data. As a result, they were able to identify which states have moved towards industrial, maximalist, French country, cottagecore, or the aforementioned shabby chic.
“Southerners are most interested in French country, with maximalist and shabby chic not far behind,” Architectural Design explained about what they found to be most popular in the region. Eleven states are aligned with the industrial trend. This made it the most popular among the five options.
Florida Is Very Chic
Joining the Sunshine State in the shabby chic trend are New Jersey, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and Delaware. Orlando and Daytona Beach were called out as being cities that are most obsessed with cottagecore. If you are also curious as to what this exactly means, The Good Trade described cottagecore as, “an aesthetic that celebrates simple living, particularly in the countryside.”
If you are now interested in decorating the inside of your Floridian home in a shabby chic style, the real estate group Wellington Home Team recently laid out ideas. They offer distressed wood furniture ideas with simple fabrics for every room in the house, including your patio. “Warmth, coziness, and charm are some of the key elements of the shabby chic aesthetic,” is how they describe one of the most popular design trends in Florida.
