Midland’s Wide-Ranging Music Industry Friendships
Everybody needs friends, especially up-and-coming country stars. Luckily the guys of Midland are making them left and right, and in some pretty high places.
The hot new country trio has been hitting the pavement hard in recent months in support of their debut album On The Rocks, which comes out September 22nd. That’s often meant mixing and mingling with some of country music’s most celebrated talent, some of whom the trio has found itself opening for. “Everybody’s just really cool,” Midland’s Jess Carson says through their record label. “Luke Bryan, such a cool guy. Thomas Rhett one of our favorite people, [along with] Jon Pardi, Brothers Osborne [and] Florida Georgia Line.”
Shot from us playing Poodie's a couple years back...Kinda surreal to think how far we've come and how far we have … https://t.co/Dhq2adFtfX pic.twitter.com/lUXfeW0PLQ

And buddying up to Midland doesn’t have anything to do with music tastes. “Our attitude is, Midland does what we do and we write our music,” the trio’s Mark Wystrach says. “And if you’re a good person and a good hang will hang out with you … it’s a hard business [for] anybody that’s out there doing it [and] we tip our hats to ’em. Not every single artist that we come across [may be our favorite musically], but I respect everybody for what they’re doing … for me it’s just about what kind of [person you are are]. There’s a great community in country music.”
Midland is likely to expand their friendships when they hit the road next month as part of CMT On Tour 2017 with Runaway June and their buddy Jon Pardi. The run kicks off in Birmingham, AL October 12th. Details here.
