Chris Young’s Lawyer Issues A Statement on Singer’s Arrest
Chris Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey, has issued a statement on Young’s arrest at a Nashville bar (1/22). Included in the statement is a direct link to video footage (shown below in FB link). The footage shows the interaction between Chris and TABC officers on Monday night (January 22, 2024) in Nashville. That’s when the 6’4″ singer was forcefully shoved to the ground and arrested.
Statement from Chris Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey:
“What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong, and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place. In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional, and professional harm done towards my client .”
News Channel 5 reports that the singer allegedly engaged with agents of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission inside Dawg House near Music Row.
According to police, the agents entered Tin Roof at around 8:30 p.m. to conduct a compliance check. The officers approached Young and checked his ID; Young reportedly began asking questions and recording the agents. The questions were answered, and the agents then made their way to another bar, the Dawg House to continue their compliance checks.
Young and others reportedly then followed the agents to the bar. Agents checked ABC cards and began walking to the door. That’s when Young proceeded to put his hands out to stop one of the agents from leaving the bar.
News Channel 5 reporter Nick Beres posted two video clips from the bar’s cameras on his Facebook page. The reporter captioned the clips in part, “I obtained security video from inside the bar of what happened Monday night. You’ll recall Young was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault of an officer for allegedly attacking agents with the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Young is accused of confronting them after they checked his ID.”
He continued, “According to Young’s lawyer, all his client wanted to do was to confirm the identity of the men — who were not in obvious uniforms … and ask about the photo of his ID. The video does not appear to show Young striking the agent in the shoulder … rather, he reaches out. WHAT DO YOU THINK?”
