Mark Wystrach Of Midland Keeps A Pretty Eclectic Playlist
Judging from their fast-rising debut single “Drinking Problem,” Midland is a very traditional-leaning trio. A look at leader singer Mark Wystrach‘s Spotify playlist, however, and one could walk away with another impression.
He listens to a little bit of everything, in other words. “Anybody that follows me on Spotify will see that I listen to everything,” the former model says through the band’s record label. “I’m an audiophile.”
For real. “I listen to everything from like neo-classical music, which is incorporating traditional classical music elements, you know, string arrangements, and then modern synthesized sounds, to hip hop, to a lot of singer songwriter stuff,” he reveals. “I listen to everything.”
Of course the guys are keeping it country with their own material so far. Their hit “Drinkin’ Problem” might just be one of the most traditional-sounding country songs on the radio at the moment. And they shared it just last week during an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. Watch below.
The guys remain hard at work on the road with stops scheduled for Oklahoma, Idaho, New York, Ohio, Massachusetts and Florida in the next two weeks alone. A complete list of tour dates can be found here. Midland’s debut album On The Rocks drops September 22nd. Pre-order the project here.
